Face of a Movement

~Carissa Russell

I don’t want to be the face

Of a movement

I just want basic

Human Rights.

Get paid like a man,

Stand up and be able to say

With pride

Who I am.

I don’t want my tear stained face printed on walls

I just want

To love who I want.

Be able to walk to my car

Without holding my keys

Like a weapon

The way that my mom taught me.

I don’t want to be he face

Of a movement

I just want to live my life.
